The Phunky Fox Jackets are a pillar of our shop: a classic item- always available, always evolving, and always the perfect addition for anyone, anytime.
This is a special clothing piece designed with special intention. It has been perfected and serves a multitude of purposes, as well as containing a high range of variety for expression. It's equally functional, as it is fashionable. Lucky us!
Purpose, Power, Protection..
Our Jacket's : Explained.
This jacket was intended to be both the most flexible and most fashionable clothing piece a person could access. It's like coffee, you can enjoy it hot or cold.
Temperature played a huge role in this jacket's creation. The designer, Alyssa Poland often found herself being unpredictably hot or cold, no rhyme or reason all the time. She often was cold in unusual times, like a summer concert. She would wear a light cardigan, a light zip up, something like that..but then it would be too hot. This was a personal problem she was struggling with solving. She was diagnosed with an auto immense disease with a side effect of cold intolerance. This newer issue was unpredictable and she found no matter what she did it was never quite right and she was always unexpectedly uncomfortable.
Then one summer day, she realized a few things. Feeling comfortable in the summer for all occasions she was experiencing was not something she understood like most people did. Regular days, easier to manage, and less exposure. But she is an avid concert goer, and spends long periods of time outdoors for music, some shows being much more physically demanding than others.

She pin pointed a desire to be covered up even though she wasn't cold in that moment, the contrary- sweating in the sun at a packed show.
What were the other factors causing this discomfort?
Being overwhelmed, anxiety... unwanted attention from people. She felt exposed. Even though she wasn't.

She was wearing ordinary shorts at an appropriate length, she felt no protection, and beyond that extreme discomfort and fear of danger. She felt like she was not protected at all, and that she was endangering her self directly. She felt beyond vulnerable, uncomfortable, and uneasy. This inner silent crisis she was having distracted her completely. Experiences like this will happen, and sadly are unavoidable.
The world is a dangerous evil place, we cannot control. However we can control our selves: our precautions to safety, our own personal comfort.
Her next discovery would change everything.
At the show, as part of her outfit and way to be expressive, bold and fun..she wore a long pattern silk robe. Something not typically made for that outing but it works, at a concert anything goes. She realized, this was the solution! Wearing something like a silk robe, long light and weightless. Working as a shield, giving instant relief. She felt protected, as well as actually comfortable, she was just warm enough and happily covered - yet just cool enough as the breeze blew in at all directions.

She couldn't believe how comfortable she was. She couldn't believe she stubbled upon this simple solution to so many problems she faced. From her body's exposure, her feeling protected and safer, as well as her unpredictable changing temperature problem. Furthermore, she had a deep untamable sense of curiosity and courageousness with her fashion, her constantly evolving wild sense of style. It checked every box. Of course it was perfect comfort for a concert, non restorative, able to move all part of the body, loose as can be.
That realization led to this one:
this kind of clothing piece was the solution to her problems... and she needed to wear them other places beyond a concert, places in everyday life. She needed to make it her own, for all flavors of her fashion and lifestyle.
She knew she needed to find as many of these items as she could. However, what she was really searching for was not easily found. She knew it was up to her to make it happen. She knew what she needed them to be, what she wanted them to be.

With all this in mind, she was going to bring the vision to life for herself.
She learned to sew, she went through years of trial error and experimentation. She feels now, she has mastered her desire. She designed the piece she wanted to exist. In this journey, she unlocked the knowledge of the magic fabric : sequin.
Another problem solved:In her exploring process, she found what she was looking for- but not at the right price. She couldn't believe how unaffordable it was. She did not let it discourage her though, it instead motivated her. She wanted to create the sequin jackets she could afford.
She learned that sequin fabric is the most expensive out there, and rightfully so. It's beautiful and delicate as can be.
However, she knew there had to be another way. and if there wasn't...she was going to make one. So she did... and to her surprise her friends and community wanted them too. Demand led her to exploring a new found dream and passion... Welcome to the Phunky fox shop! We believe in miracles.
Since this life changing thought & the ideas that followed all stem from the occurrence at a concert..more specifically: her favorite band of all time: phish. Thus we have the word "Phunky"it has the same definition as "Funky" we just add a ph on it. Essentially, that is what she began doing. Adding little bits and pieces of phish fashion, themes and references. Then she discovered all the different ways this piece can be styled, and the different powers the different fabrics have, and just how many dimensions she can take us to with it.
She had no idea how much others would love them too. and what their personal experiences would be, what they would gain.
Something people have celebrated is the sense of confidence. There is no feeling like being covered in the brightest sparkling sequin fabrics. Especially in the reflective light. Or in a fuzzy spandex on on a chill summer day. The opportunities are endless and were just getting started....!

The Macro Sequin Jacket
The Macro Sequin Jacket is the largest sequin fabric we carry. The macro sequin discs are sewn on to mesh. Each disc is about the size of a centimeter.
Designs printed on fabric
We choose the most fun, colorful, eye catching fabrics we can! This kind of fabric is soft on the inside, and stretchy. Made with cottons, polyesters, and spandex materials.
Faux Fur Jackets
Our jackets made of faux fur. Some faux fur fabrics are embellished with sequin designs. The top photo is regular faux fur, the bottom is faux fur with a design, the sequin daisies.
The Micro Sequin Jacket
The Micro Sequin Jacket is made with smaller, micro sequins. These sequins are about 1/4 the size of the macro. This fabric has a wider range of color and pattern design options. Also, on micro sequin jackets they make the most sturdy base to add patches if you choose.
The Velvets
The velvet fabric we use is either regular velvet, crushed velvet, or velvet with sequins. All of the velvet fabric is smooth and fuzzy, the only difference is in the details. The top image is velvet with sequin and the bottom is crushed velvet.
Holographic Jackets
Our holographic jackets are reflective shiny fabric with a sleek plastic like feel.
